The DIY's of the Big Day

I'm crafty. I love doing things myself. Why pay someone else to do things for you when you can have all the fun to yourself? For our wedding this has meant that we've taken on additional things all in the name of craftyness and fun. This past week things have really started to come together and we're in the process of all our final preparations. I'm in love with what has been created for our big day and wanted to share it with you all.

Our good friend designed all the paper items for the wedding. That included the invitations to the engagement party, save the date magnets, wedding invitations, table tents, kissing menus, ceremony programs, and reception seating assignment poster. He is amazing and is able to tolerate me. I just printed these off on Wednesday and LOVE the way they turned out! Our tables are named after streets in Boston, where we met and currently live. I bought the table tents at the Paper Source, wrote the description for each street, Scott designed them, and I printed them on my home printer.

Then, of course, are our Kissing Menus. I've loved this idea since the second I saw it on another blog. I'm really excited to finally have them done! I still want to mount them on another layer of dark blue cardstock. We'll see if I get to it.

The last thing I'll share in this post is the gifts I made for my sisters. They never read my blog, so I'm not worried about ruining the surprise. We talk too much and already know what's going on in each other's lives. I wanted something personal and since I love to sew, I knew that their gifts would definitely be unique. Part of the gift is a personalized makeup bag with their initial on the front and a heart on the back. Inside I included a wedding day emergency kit: Tide-to-go, Shout wipes, bobby pins, hairspray, Q-tips, bandaids, deodorant, Purell, and tissues. There are a few more goodies in there, including their real gifts from me. The emergency kit is really just a bonus. Oh, and I used the same material that is I used to make our ring bearer pillow!

Projects still on the to-do list: Programs for the ceremony, Seating assignment poster, centerpieces, Candy bar for favors.

I really love the personal touches this gives our wedding day. It's going to be so amazing when it all comes together!

You are so crafty! I wish I had that talent, I think the only thing I will be creating myself are the centerpieces to save money on flowers- haven't totally worked it out yet. Thanks for the ideas :)
