Buttercup Bag!

Just the name of this bag should tell you how cute it is. I used the pattern from Made By Rae and fabric from Joann's/IKEA. This bag is going to my sister, Melissa. She tends to get some of my trial run pieces. I changed the pattern a little to put a button and on the front and a little hook to close it, the original pattern uses a magnetic closure. Next up is a skirt for me, and a little pouch to keep my bag organized :)

Cupcakes!

We recently (ok, two weeks ago, give me a break) went on a cupcake tour around Boston. This amazing outing was the idea of my amazing friend Sam, who coordinated our itinerary and carefully chose 5 cupcakeries for us to visit and sample what they had to offer.

First stop: Party Favors in Brookline

The choices were daunting. I never really stopped to think about all the magicalness (I may have made that word up) that cupcakes can bring.

We decided to go with a Boston Creme cupcake. It felt only right since we are in Boston.

How cute is this one? Jason got this one, but I think he did it just so he could bite the monkey's head off.

Second stop: Sweet on Mass Ave.

This place has nothing but cupcakes. Unlike other places we visited which sold other baked goodies, Sweet specializes in cupcakes. Again, the choices were hard to narrow down.

This is Ellen's cupcake, which I believe was Pink Lemonade. How adorable is that?

After much debate Dane and I ended up with two cupcakes. This one is the picture of perfection, in my opinion. It had some raspberry filling, the cake was perfect, and the frosting was amazing. We also got a mini Red Velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting. That was a very good choice and if I hadn't been on my way to three more cupcake places, I probably would have gotten the full size cupcake.

Third stop: Lulu's in the North End

I've been down Hanover Street so many times, but I've never noticed this little place. We had chocolate, raspberry, and red velvet already so we went with a carrot cake cupcake.

Look at this little gem of a cupcake. It caught our eye in the display.

We cut it in half to share and enjoyed it together.

Fourth stop: Flour in South Boston

Ok, I was slacking at this point. I didn't take any pictures because to be honest I wasn't overly impressed and I was tired. They had only one cupcake, chocolate with vanilla frosting, and it was huge! There was no way to finish it. I will give it a thumbs up for the ginormousness of it, but it was super chocolatey, almost too much for me.

Fifth stop: South End Buttery in the (you guessed it!) South End

This place had a big selection of mini cupcakes. I thoroughly came to appreciate this option after eating so much all day. Not that I got a mini though, Dane and I split a normal sized cupcake. We decided to go with the rainbow frosting because Gay Pride was in Boston that day.

All around it was a beautiful day, we did a ton of walking, and tasted some amazing cupcakes. I cannot wait for the 2nd annual cupcake tour! Be on the lookout for official t-shirts and tote bags coming soon :)

Sandie and Derek's Wedding

I realize this happened about two weeks ago, but I'm just getting around to posting about it now. Dane and I went down to PA for the wedding of Derek and Sandie's wedding at the end of May. It was at the groom's home, which is beautiful. We had the best time with everyone!

OK, so first of all, I did my own hair and I was very impressed with myself. I even made that little flower myself.

Me and my future hubby looking handsome.

Waiting patiently for the bride and groom to make their entrance.

How beautiful is she? I think everyone immediately started crying when she came out with her father. I can't get over how perfect that dress is for her.

Such a beautiful couple. The officiant was Kyle, a friend from Penn State. It was really nice to have someone that is so close to the couple preside over their wedding. He made it really fun for them.

The boys had a very good time together. Here's Dane with Drew and Jayneel who will be his two best men at our wedding in November. Couldn't ask for better!

It was a long night of dancing and merriment. Kevin and Leilani are also getting married this year in August. We had a blast with them.

Everything was so beautiful! We're so happy for Derek and Sandie and can't wait to see everyone again soon :)

The Vintage Pearl

I just need everyone to know about this blog/person. She is incredibly talented. I got a necklace for my mom for Mother's Day. It was the circle one (if you visit her Etsy shop) with the names of her, my dad, my two sisters, and me. She absolutely loved it. Then for our two year anniversary, Dane got me a necklace too because he knows how much I love her work. It's a circle with a heart and has both our names on it.

So, the reason I'm writing this is because she'll be doing a week (that's right, I said an entire WEEK) of giveaways, with a few each day. Click the button on my blog to the right to visit her site and enter to win some beautiful things!

Another fun thing!

I made my first thing with a zipper this weekend! Look at that fun fabric. It has dragons on it.
